What started as an evening of celebration for teenagers on Ventura’s Pierpont Beach descended into a scene of fear and danger Monday evening. A nearby resident, later identified as 43-year-old Robert Felix, allegedly took extreme measures to quash the festivities, wielding a golf club and discharging a firearm into the air.

“He Came Back Outside Brandishing a Firearm…”

According to the Ventura Police Department, officers responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m. after receiving multiple calls about a man firing shots near the beachgoers. Upon arrival, they discovered that Felix had approached the group of teenagers while brandishing a golf club.

Witnesses reported that Felix, irked by the teens’ celebration, initially retreated into his nearby residence only to reemerge moments later with a firearm. Fear gripped the crowd as he reportedly brandished the weapon and unleashed a shot into the air.

“Brandishing, Unlawful Discharge, and Assault”

Felix was apprehended without incident and later booked on suspicion of brandishing a firearm, unlawful discharge, and assault with a deadly weapon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

“A Moment of Terror on the Beach”

The incident sent shockwaves through the peaceful beachgoers, many of whom were celebrating their upcoming graduation. “It was terrifying,” recalled one witness. “We were just having fun, and then out of nowhere, we hear this guy yelling and swinging a club.”

Local Resident’s Anger Fuels Dangerous Response

Police believe Felix’s animosity towards the group stemmed from the noise generated by their celebration. However, his extreme actions raised concerns about the community’s safety.

“This was a reckless and unjustifiable act,” said a Ventura Police spokesperson. “The beach is a place for recreation and enjoyment, not violence.”

Community Concerns and Safety Measures

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential risks that can arise when personal frustrations boil over. The Ventura Police Department encourages residents to exercise restraint and report any suspicious or threatening behavior.

Community members are also urged to remain vigilant and report any unsettling activities, particularly in public areas frequented by young people.
