Masked Man with Gun and Axe Threatens Deputies in Violent Home Invasion


In a harrowing incident, a 35-year-old man brandishing a handgun and an axe was apprehended by deputies after allegedly attempting a home invasion robbery in San Bernardino County. Christopher Ochoa, a Rialto resident, faces multiple charges following the encounter.

Midnight Disturbance

The incident transpired just past midnight on March 30th, when deputies from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department’s Fontana Station responded to a call regarding a “man with a gun” on Gray Pine Place. Upon arrival, the suspect, identified as Christopher Ochoa, was observed at the residence’s front door, armed with both a firearm and an axe.

Violent Confrontation

Despite deputies’ commands, Ochoa refused to comply, raising the axe threateningly. A lethal force encounter ensued, during which Ochoa was taken into custody and hospitalized for unspecified injuries. No deputies were reported injured.

Charges and Investigation

After being medically cleared, Ochoa was booked at the West Valley Detention Center on charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, attempted home invasion robbery, and an outstanding traffic warrant. He remains in custody on 5,000 bail.
