Beyoncé’s latest musical endeavor, “Cowboy Carter,” showcases collaborations with country music icons Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson. However, the project recently shed light on another industry legend who graciously contributed their talents.

Stevie Wonder’s Surprise Support

On Monday, at the iHeart Radio Music Awards held in Los Angeles, Beyoncé received the prestigious Innovator Award presented by none other than the musical genius Stevie Wonder.

“Thank you, Stevie. I love and honor you. Thank you for making a way for all of us,” she expressed her gratitude. “I’m honored to receive this from you. You’re the one I could listen to the rest of my life. God bless you.”

Wonder responded with equally heartfelt words, “I want to thank you for motivating the world to be a better place.”

“Cowboy Carter” Breaks Streaming Records

Spotify hailed “Cowboy Carter” as the album with the highest number of streams on its first day this year. Amazon Music echoed the success, reporting it as the platform’s biggest album debut, with the most global first-day streams among all Beyoncé’s albums and the most for a country album by a female artist.

Defying Genre Boundaries

Beyoncé revealed the inspiration behind the country-inspired project, explaining that it stemmed from an experience where she felt excluded.

“It was very clear that I wasn’t welcomed,” she recalled.

Queen Bey’s stirring speech on Monday highlighted the importance of inclusivity in the music industry and the transformative power of innovation.

“Innovation is doing what everyone believes is impossible,” she asserted. “It often means being criticized and tested mentally. But it’s about trusting in faith and God’s guidance.”

Breaking Barriers and Honoring Pioneers

She acknowledged those who faced similar challenges in the past, “Rosetta Tharpe, Tracy Chapman, Linda Martell, Prince, Andre 3000, Tina Turner, and Michael Jackson—and so many more who defied labels. Thank you for executing your dreams so we could all follow.”

Gratitude to Team and Loved Ones

Beyoncé extended her heartfelt appreciation to her Parkwood Entertainment team, her husband Jay-Z, and their three children, acknowledging their unwavering support and inspiration.

“You all work so hard, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. (To my) husband, my rock, my best friend, I love you. (To) my three beautiful children who continue to be my inspiration and my biggest blessing.”
