**Huntington Beach Murder Suspect Arrested at US-Mexico Border**

In a major development, a 35-year-old man, Christopher Mendez, was apprehended by authorities at the United States-Mexico border on Friday in connection with the murder of Nicole Marquisee, a 35-year-old nurse from Walnut.

A person of interest in the case from the outset, Mendez was caught as he attempted to return to the US from Mexico. The arrest was made possible through the joint efforts of the Huntington Beach Police Department, US Customs and Border Protection, the US Department of State Bureau of Diplomatic Security, and the US Consulate General of Tijuana.

Marquisee’s body was discovered on May 31 in a residence on England Street in Huntington Beach. Homicide detectives had responded to a call regarding an incident at the address.

Mendez is currently in custody, facing a million bail. His arraignment is scheduled for June 11, 2024.
