Dreams Emerge from Tragedy: Ethan Chapin’s Legacy Lives On Through Scholarships

Ethan’s Smile: Seeds of Hope Amidst the Darkness

On November 13, 2022, Ethan Chapin’s bright future was tragically cut short, leaving an unfillable void in the hearts of his loved ones. In his memory, his family has dedicated themselves to nurturing seeds of hope, fostering dreams and empowering young minds.

Honoring Ethan’s Legacy

“We can’t think of a better way to honor Ethan,” said Stacy Chapin, Ethan’s mother. “We wanted our kids to have an education so they could stand on their own two feet, and it became ‘Let’s pay it forward in Ethan’s honor.'” Through the charitable foundation Ethan’s Smile, the Chaplains are distributing scholarships to dozens of students eager to pursue their passions and aspirations.

Unlike traditional academic scholarships, Ethan’s Smile offers financial assistance to students attending any accredited institution, including beauty and vocational schools. “We wanted a scholarship for any kid that has any dream,” explained Stacy. “I can’t wait for 20 years from now when these kids come back and say … ‘This is what I did with my life.'”

A Glimmer of Light

Country music star Morgan Wallen extended a helping hand to Ethan’s Smile, providing financial support and raising awareness that resonated with people across the nation. “Morgan Wallen poses with the Chapin family. Stacy Chapin says the country star donated to Ethan’s Smile and also helped raise awareness, which led people around the country to contribute to the scholarship fund in her son’s honor as well.” Stacy expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of generosity, acknowledging that their goal is to grow the fund until its interest can cover scholarships every year.

A Beacon of Change

Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Kaylee Goncalves, and Madison Mogen were tragically murdered in their off-campus home near the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. Their untimely deaths sent shockwaves through the community and left their families reeling. The alleged perpetrator, Bryan Kohberger, a graduate student in criminology at the neighboring Washington State University, is being held without bail and faces the death penalty if convicted.

A Foundation for the Future

Ethan Chapin’s spirit continues to inspire countless individuals. The foundation established in his name is a testament to his infectious enthusiasm and the values he lived by. Through Ethan’s Smile, Stacy Chapin and her family are determined to carry on his legacy by empowering students to fulfill their potential and make a lasting impact on the world.
