The Library of Congress has expanded its prestigious National Recording Registry, adding 25 new selections for preservation and recognition. Among the chosen recordings are iconic tracks from music legends like ABBA, Blondie, and the late Notorious B.I.G.

ABBA, the Swedish pop sensation, has had its enduring hit “Dancing Queen” inducted into the registry. The song remains a timeless classic, captivating generations with its infectious melody and dancefloor-filling beat.

Blondie, the influential New Wave band, contributes “Heart of Glass” to the collection. This iconic single, with its blend of rock and disco elements, solidified the band’s status as pioneers in the music scene.

The legendary rapper Notorious B.I.G. joins the registry with his groundbreaking album “Ready to Die.” This seminal work, released in 1994, revolutionized hip-hop and solidified the rapper’s place among the genre’s elite.

Established by Congress in 2000, the National Recording Registry preserves recordings that are deemed to be “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” With these new additions, the registry now contains over 600 recordings that span a wide range of musical genres and eras, ensuring that American music heritage continues to be celebrated.
