Joining Blige on the podium is the iconic Cher, renowned for her unforgettable hits and groundbreaking career that transcends music and fashion. Foreigner, the legendary rock band behind anthems like “Urgent” and “Hot Blooded,” adds its timeless sound to the hall’s repertoire.
The induction ceremony welcomes A Tribe Called Quest, hip-hop innovators who pushed musical boundaries and embodied the spirit of conscious rap. Kool & The Gang, the vibrant funk ensemble, takes its place in the hall, bringing its infectious grooves and undeniable danceability.
Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, known for both his electrifying solo career and his groundbreaking work with Black Sabbath, joins the list of inductees, solidifying his status as a music icon.
Beyond the Classics
The Hall of Fame also recognizes the profound musical influences of Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thornton, who each earn the Musical Influence Award.
Late music legends Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield receive the Musical Excellence Award, honoring their exceptional contributions to the industry.
Music executive extraordinaire Suzanne de Passe, whose visionary leadership has shaped the landscape of entertainment, is presented with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Eligibility and Induction
To be eligible for induction, artists must have their first commercial recording released 25 years prior. After a rigorous voting process involving over 1,000 artists, historians, and industry professionals, the inductees were chosen.
The official induction ceremony will take place on October 19th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The event will be streamed live on Disney+ and later broadcast on ABC, with replays also available on Hulu.
