In a chilling turn of events, residents of Sunland woke up to the gruesome discovery of a deceased woman’s body inside a trash can on Tuesday morning.

Disturbing Details Emerge

At around 10:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to Wentworth Street after receiving distress calls about an unusual odor. To their shock, officers encountered a decomposing body concealed in a bag and stuffed into a trash can with the lid tightly sealed.

The identity of the victim, a woman believed to be in her 30s, remains a mystery. LAPD confirmed her gender but has withheld her name pending official identification.

Perplexing Circumstances

An eerie element to the discovery is that the trash can holding the body was foreign to the neighborhood. It appeared to have been placed strategically at the curb as if awaiting regular trash collection.

The manner and timing of the woman’s death remain subjects of investigation. Officials expressed uncertainty regarding the cause of death or how long her body had been hidden within the container.

Community in Shock and Grief

The macabre find left a lasting impact on the quiet neighborhood. Residents expressed a mix of shock and profound sadness.

“I’ve lived here for decades and never imagined such a thing could happen,” recounted Bennisa Rendon, a local resident.

As the day progressed, a crime scene van and a white tent for concealing bodies were brought in. LAPD Detective Eduardo Serrano shared his sentiments, saying, “The fact that a human life was ruthlessly discarded in this manner is deeply saddening.”

Investigation Underway

The area around the gruesome discovery remains cordoned off with crime scene tape, diverting traffic. Coroner’s officials are currently working on establishing a cause of death.

The LAPD has launched an investigation into the incident and is appealing to the public for information. Anyone with knowledge or leads on this disturbing case is urged to contact the LAPD at 1-877-275-5273.
