Brightline West Embarks on a High-Speed Journey with Siemens Mobility

Siemens to Build and Maintain Bullet Train System Connecting Southern California and Las Vegas

Los Angeles, CA – Brightline West has chosen Siemens Mobility as the partner to bring their groundbreaking high-speed rail system to life. This electrifying collaboration will see Siemens build and deliver ten “American Pioneer 220” trains, the heart of Brightline West’s futuristic fleet.

Siemens, a global transportation powerhouse with a long history in Sacramento, has a proven track record of innovation in the rail industry. With this partnership, Brightline West is confident in the delivery of zero-emission, all-electric trains capable of reaching speeds of up to 220 mph, promising to revolutionize passenger rail travel in the United States.

The sleek 7-car trains, with a capacity of over 430 passengers, will power through the Interstate 15 median, connecting Southern California and Las Vegas in just two hours – a time-saving improvement that will transform travel between these bustling cities.

“We are thrilled to partner with Siemens Mobility for this groundbreaking project,” said Wes Edens, Co-Founder, and CEO of Fortress Investment Group, the majority owner of Brightline. “Their expertise in high-speed rail technology will ensure that Brightline West delivers a truly transformative transportation experience.”

Siemens’ commitment extends beyond manufacturing to providing regular maintenance and large-scale repairs for these cutting-edge trains. A dedicated maintenance facility in Sloan, Nevada, will serve as the backbone of ongoing operations, ensuring the trains run seamlessly for at least 30 years.

A New Era for Rail Travel and Economic Progress

The Brightline West project is a bold investment in the future of transportation in the United States. Its construction, which commenced in April 2023, is anticipated to create thousands of union jobs and set the stage for new industries to emerge.

The system’s positive impact reaches beyond infrastructure and job creation. By reducing air pollution and promoting a more sustainable transportation alternative, Brightline West enhances environmental stewardship and aligns with the Biden Administration’s goals.

As Marc Buncher, CEO of Siemens Mobility North America, aptly stated, “The Brightline West project marks a pivotal moment in the history of American rail. Together, we will make high-speed travel a reality, connecting communities and driving economic development.”
