Crestline’s Beloved Grocery Store Reopens, Reviving a Community Lifeline

After a tumultuous year, Goodwin’s Market, the heart of Crestline’s bustling community, has triumphantly reopened its doors. Once a bustling hive of activity, the grocery store was shuttered for 14 long months after its roof succumbed to the weight of a relentless winter storm in 2023.

A Community Relieved

The closure of Goodwin’s was a severe blow to Crestline’s nearly 10,000 residents, who relied heavily on the store for their daily essentials. As roads were blocked and snowfall piled high, Goodwin’s absence was deeply felt.

“We are more than a grocery store. We are the unofficial meeting spot, the coffee klatch, the social gathering place,” said Mike Johnstone, vice president of the market. “We’ve been a part of this community for generations.”

Rebuilding a Community Anchor

The rebuilding of Goodwin’s Market was a Herculean undertaking. The damage sustained during the storm was extensive, requiring a complete rebuild of the roof and structural repairs.

Throughout the construction process, the community rallied behind Goodwin’s. Local businesses donated supplies and volunteers helped with the cleanup efforts.
