House Speaker’s Fate Hangs in the Balance as Third Republican Backs Ousting Motion

Los Angeles, CA – A third House Republican, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), has joined the movement to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) over his controversial plan to allocate billion in foreign aid.

**Gosar’s Strong Objection**

Gosar expressed severe disapproval of the proposal, particularly the billion allocated to Ukraine, which he believes detracts from the pressing issue of border security. He accused House GOP leaders of neglecting the protection of America’s southern border while prioritizing a “reckless” and “endless” war on foreign soil.

**Motion to Vacate**

As a tangible manifestation of his objection, Gosar endorsed a resolution filed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) last month. Known as a motion to vacate, it calls for Johnson’s removal. Greene and Gosar claim that America’s border security cannot be relegated to an afterthought and demand a speaker who prioritizes national interests over foreign entanglements.

**Growing Opposition**

Greene’s motion has already garnered support from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who threatened to call for Johnson’s ouster if he did not step aside after a floor vote on the foreign aid plan.

Conservative rebels also criticize the decision to consolidate the four individual aid bills into one package before sending it to the Senate. They argue that this maneuver undermines Republican opposition to the billion foreign aid package passed by the Democrat-controlled House earlier this year.

**Democratic Support**

Despite Republican opposition, the foreign aid package advanced to a final vote with more Democratic support (165) than Republican support (151). This outcome has fueled further resentment among conservative Republicans who feel their concerns are being ignored.

**Cautious Dissent**

Some House Republicans, however, are hesitant to endorse calls for Johnson’s removal. House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-Va.) believes that such a move would be ill-timed, given the upcoming elections and the narrow Republican margin.

**Uncertain Future**

As the controversy surrounding the foreign aid plan and Johnson’s leadership escalates, it remains to be seen how it will ultimately impact the Republican Party and the House’s direction going forward.
