Quarterback Brock Purdy is known for his exceptional performances on the field, but it turns out his heroic instincts extend far beyond the sidelines.

Rescuing Reporter from Coyote Encounter

On a recent Tuesday, Purdy revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” how he saved a reporter from a potentially dangerous encounter with a coyote. While filming a commercial for John Deere, Purdy noticed a coyote stealthily approaching a woman and her dog.

“I saw this thing trotting by that had a big tail,” Purdy said. “No one else was gonna scream, so I screamed, ‘Yo, there’s a coyote!’ That thing went running off.”

Purdy’s swift intervention prevented what could have been a hazardous situation for the reporter, who turned out to be CBS News Bay Area anchor Sara Donchey. Donchey herself recounted the incident earlier in the year, commending Purdy for his quick thinking.

Partnership with John Deere and the Search for a Chief Tractor Officer

Purdy’s on-camera heroics coincide with his new partnership with John Deere. Together, they’re embarking on a search for the company’s first Chief Tractor Officer.

“We’re looking for unsung heroes who have a story to tell,” said Jen Hartmann, John Deere’s Global Director of Strategic Public Relations. “The Chief Tractor Officer will create compelling narratives about the people and industries that support our daily lives.”

Purdy’s Impactful Role

Purdy’s rescue of Donchey showcases his willingness to step up in off-field situations. It also highlights his empathy and concern for others. By using his platform, Purdy draws attention to the importance of vigilance and community support.
