What Happened

The incident occurred late Monday evening in Eugene. Austin, 19, was allegedly driving when he collided with the victim, who was walking at the intersection of Main Street and 20th Avenue. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash followed by the sound of screeching tires. A nearby resident, Seth Lockard, recalled a period of chaotic noise before the arrival of police.

“It sounded like he was just doing circles for about 10–15 minutes, going really fast,” Lockard told LA News Center. “You could kind of hear car exhaust. Then my wife heard a thump and that was real rough.”
