Renowned journalist and former moderator of “Face the Nation,” Bob Schieffer, has transitioned from reporting on the center stage of politics to expressing his hopes for America through the vibrant medium of oil paintings. His exhibition, titled “Looking for the Light,” showcases 24 original artworks that reflect his profound response to the nation’s recent challenges, including the January 6th insurrection.
In an interview with “60 Minutes” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi, Schieffer reveals the deeply personal inspiration behind his shift to art. The violence and division that unfolded in the wake of the 2020 election spurred him to find a new way to process and communicate his feelings.
