Wong expressed her gratitude and excitement about joining the band, stating, “It’s an honor to perform alongside such influential musicians. Never give up on your aspirations, no matter how daunting they may seem.”

Kiki Wong’s arrival in The Smashing Pumpkins coincides with the start of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. She acknowledges the challenges of being an Asian American woman in the rock and roll industry.

“I’ve encountered backlash, but there’s an outpouring of support that far outweighs the negativity,” Wong said in an interview. “My hope is that I can inspire other Asian American and Pacific Islander musicians to pursue their passion and feel confident in expressing themselves through music, regardless of judgment.”

The Smashing Pumpkins’ decision to bring Wong on board is a testament to her talent and the band’s commitment to diversity and representation in music. Her journey serves as a reminder that dreams come true with hard work, perseverance, and the unwavering belief in oneself.
