Caught Southern California Deputy Uncovered as Part of “El Chapo” Cartel

A former Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy’s arrest for allegedly possessing over 100 pounds of fentanyl pills has been linked to a major investigation targeting Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s infamous drug cartel, according to a report by the Press-Enterprise.

Jorge Oceguera-Rocha, a 25-year-old Banning resident, resigned from his position after his apprehension. He is suspected of involvement in the distribution of illegal substances linked to the Sinaloa Cartel, once led by El Chapo, a notorious Mexican drug lord.

The Press-Enterprise report highlights the gravity of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s collaboration with federal authorities in cracking down on narcotics trafficking. Sheriff Chad Bianco stated that the case serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to fighting the drug epidemic.

Oceguera-Rocha’s arrest followed a lengthy investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the FBI, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Investigations Bureau (SIB).

The investigation focused on dismantling a drug trafficking organization suspected of distributing narcotics in Riverside County and beyond. Authorities seized significant quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin, as well as weapons and assets.

According to the Press-Enterprise, Oceguera-Rocha’s alleged role within the cartel remains under investigation. His arrest has brought renewed attention to the problem of corruption within law enforcement, emphasizing the need for ongoing vigilance and collaboration in combating drug trafficking and related criminal activities.
