A Yucaipa man, 38-year-old Justin Flood, has been apprehended for his alleged involvement in a burglary at Marlene’s Jewelry, located on Yucaipa Boulevard. The incident unfolded on a Saturday morning when deputies responded to a call at approximately 3:30 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officials discovered a gaping hole in an interior wall and a propped-open back door. Surveillance footage revealed a man dressed in shorts and an Under Armour sweatshirt using a reciprocating saw to breach the front door.

A Witness Emerges

As deputies meticulously combed the area, a man was noticed lurking around a restaurant opposite the shattered jewelry store. After mounting a bicycle, the suspect promptly vanished. Undeterred, deputies intercepted the individual, who barefacedly sported drywall debris and insulation on his clothing – matching the evidence found at the crime scene.

The Smoking Wagon

Further investigation uncovered a crimson canvas wagon, abandoned by the suspect, containing an assortment of tools often employed for malicious purposes. These included power tools, pry bars, and the aforementioned reciprocating saw. An astute witness had also observed Flood dragging an identical wagon earlier that evening.

Unraveling the Evidence

The seamless arrest was made possible by a combination of video surveillance, observant witnesses, and an uncannily careless disregard for appearances. The evidence against Flood mounted, leaving him with little room to evade culpability.
