Biden Defies Testifying in Hunter Biden Investigation: “Facts Do Not Matter”

The White House has formally rejected a request from House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) for President Biden to testify in connection with his son Hunter’s business dealings.

In a letter sent to Comer on Monday, Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, stated that the impeachment investigation is over.

Biden Impeachment: False Allegations and Wasted Resources

Sauber asserted that the committee’s inquiry “has succeeded only in turning up abundant evidence that, in fact, the President has done nothing wrong.”

He accused Comer of peddling false and unsupported allegations, emphasizing that “the facts do not matter to you.”

Presidential Refusal to Testify

In declining the invitation to testify, Sauber wrote: “Your insistence on continuing this partisan charade… is past time for the House to focus on the issues that matter to the American people.”

In response, Comer released a statement, declaring that “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in the Biden family.”

He accused Biden of “refusing to testify in public about the Bidens’ corrupt influence peddling” and denying relationships with his son’s business partners, even though Hunter Biden acknowledged them under oath.

Hunter Biden’s Testimony and Accusations

Despite providing testimony behind closed doors, Hunter Biden declined to testify publicly alongside former business associates, Tony Bobulinski and Jason Galanis.

Bobulinski has accused Hunter Biden and his uncle, James Biden, of lying under oath about their dealings with Chinese conglomerate CEFC.

Invitation’s Inquiries

In a letter dated March 28, Comer invited President Biden to explain, under oath, his involvement in the Biden family businesses. He claimed the committee had “accounted for over million that has flowed from foreign sources to you, your family and their business associates.”

The letter also included questions about Biden’s interactions with specific foreign business officials and his assertion that pressuring Ukraine to fire a government official was in line with U.S. policy.

FBI Informant and Burisma Indictment

The committee received bank records showing that Hunter Biden received million per year for his position on the board of the Ukrainian company Burisma until Joe Biden left office.

The indictment of a former FBI informant accused of providing false information to the FBI centered on Burisma Holdings. The informant claimed that Burisma executives paid Hunter Biden million for protection from his father’s political influence.

White House Staff Changes

Sauber, who has overseen the president’s response to the investigations, will leave the White House early next month. His deputy, Rachel Cotton, will take over his position.
