Political Power Play: Ex-Biden Official’s Wife Linked to Anti-Trump Organizations

LA News Center Exclusive: In a curious intertwining of political allegiances, it has emerged that the wife of a top prosecutor involved in the ongoing investigation of former President Donald Trump is a prominent supporter of President Biden.

Anne K. Small’s Bid for Biden

According to recently reviewed FEC records, Anne K. Small, the spouse of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecutor Matthew Colangelo, donated ,800 to Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. Small’s support for Democratic candidates doesn’t end there, as she also contributed to Barack Obama’s successful 2008 campaign and donated to John Kerry’s unsuccessful 2004 presidential bid.

Colangelo’s Democratic Connections

The connections to the Democratic Party extend beyond Small. Colangelo, who served as a deputy assistant to President Obama and deputy director of the National Economic Council, has received payments for “political consulting” from the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Furthermore, Colangelo’s White House visitor logs indicate numerous meetings with top officials, including President Biden’s current chief of staff, Jeff Zients.

Anti-Trump Advocacy

Small’s affiliation with the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund, which has been outspoken in its opposition to former President Trump, adds another layer to the political dynamics. The Legal Defense Fund recently filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court calling for Trump’s disqualification from running for president based on the 14th Amendment.

Legal Credentials

Despite the political connections, Small’s legal credentials are impressive. She previously served as the Securities and Exchange Commission’s general counsel, special assistant to the president, and associate counsel in the White House Counsel’s Office, becoming the first woman to hold the SEC general counsel position.

Susan Hoffinger’s Democratic Ties

Another prosecutor in Bragg’s office, Susan Hoffinger, who played a key role in questioning adult film actress Stormy Daniels in Trump’s criminal trial, has also made donations to President Biden’s campaign and other Democratic organizations.

Investigation on Partisanship

The revelations have sparked concerns about political bias in the investigation of Trump. Congressman Lance Gooden, R-Texas, sent a scathing letter to the DOJ and Manhattan District AttorneyAlvin Bragg, demanding answers about the “cesspool of partisanship” in the investigation. Colangelo and Small have declined to comment, as has the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

As the Trump investigation continues to unfold, the political ties between prosecutors and anti-Trump organizations raise questions about the potential influence of politics on the justice system.
