Standing just weeks away from making her WNBA debut, young basketball prodigy Caitlin Clark is already setting her sights on the ultimate goal: a championship.
Fever’s Playoff Aspirations
While Clark and the Indiana Fever may not immediately compete for the title in their upcoming 2024 season, the No. 1 draft pick is optimistic about ending Indiana’s recent playoff drought.
“I think a championship is certainly where our organization wants to get back to, but our goal this year is to get back to the playoffs,” Clark said recently. “We can’t put all our eggs in one basket.”
The Fever last reached the WNBA Finals in 2015 and qualified for the playoffs the following year. However, they have largely struggled over the past seven seasons.
Embracing the Pressure
Despite the expectations surrounding her, Clark appears unfazed. She recognizes the pressure but embraces it as a sign of the team’s high aspirations.
“I think no matter what happens, there’s going to be expectations on my shoulders and pressure on this team to be really good. That’s how you want it,” Clark said.
