Speeding Sports Cars Allegedly Cause Horrific Six-Car Crash: NFL Player and SMU Star Charged

Glenn Heights, TX – A chilling incident unfolded on a Texas highway last month, involving an alleged high-speed crash that left multiple people injured. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice and Southern Methodist University football player Teddy Knox are now facing serious charges in connection with the incident, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Excessive Speed and Reckless Driving

The affidavit, obtained by LA News Center, paints a harrowing picture of the events leading up to the crash on March 30th. Investigators allege that a Lamborghini Urus, believed to have been driven by Rice, was traveling at a staggering 119 miles per hour just seconds before impact, while a Chevrolet Corvette, reportedly driven by Knox, was clocked at 116 mph.

The corvette reportedly slowed to 91 mph just a second before the collision, but it was too late to prevent a chain reaction of six-car collisions.

Fault and Liability

According to the affidavit, both drivers engaged in “faulty evasive action,” putting “multiple people at risk of loss of life and serious injury.” Rice and Knox allegedly left the scene without determining the extent of the injuries or providing their information, further exacerbating the situation.

Arrests and Charges

Rice turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department on Thursday and was booked into the Regional Jail in DeSoto. He was later released. The 23-year-old NFL player faces one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.

Knox, a sophomore at SMU, surrendered himself on Friday on the same charges. The university suspended him from the football program pending further investigation.

In the Aftermath

Several individuals sustained various injuries, including head, neck, and back traumas, as a result of the crash. One driver, according to the affidavit, suffered “serious bodily injury.” The passengers who left the scene will not face any charges, the police said.

Rice has since issued an apology, acknowledging his involvement and expressing remorse for the impact of the accident.

“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident,” he stated.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of obeying speed limits. The charges against Rice and Knox send a clear message that those who endanger the lives of others will be held accountable for their actions.
