A Massacre Engulfed an Oklahoma Home, Leaving a Family Devastated and a Community Grieving

An Unfathomable Tragedy
Last week, Jonathon Candy engaged in a heated dispute with his wife, Lindsay, which unfortunately escalated into a harrowing and unimaginable incident. According to Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Gary Knight, Candy retrieved a firearm and fatally shot Lindsay multiple times. What followed was a horrifying escalation as he “systematically went through the home shooting the children.”
Three of Candy’s sons, 18-year-old Dylan, 14-year-old Ethan, and 12-year-old Lucas, were mercilessly killed in the tragic events. For reasons unknown, a 10-year-old son was spared. He woke up to the aftermath of the carnage and managed to call 911, leading first responders to discover the heartbreaking scene.
A Grieving Family
Speaking to LA News Center, the victims’ family expressed their profound grief while refusing to let the perpetrator define their lives. They chose to focus on the young survivor, as their uncle, Brent Remerowski, explained, “My nephew is a sweetheart, and he’s going to need a lot of help to get through this.”
Remerowski emphasized the outpouring of love from the community, saying, “People loved the kids. I’ve gotten a ton of messages from everyone. It’s truly heartwarming the love people have for them.”
Seeking Justice and Support
The family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses, as well as provide counseling, education, and support for the surviving nephew. The community has rallied around them, offering condolences and assistance during this challenging time.

The Mustang School District, where all the children attended or graduated, has organized a crisis response team and urged parents to be vigilant and offer support to their children.
School Superintendent Charles Bradley said, “Feelings of anger, hurt, guilt, and sadness are natural. Common grief reactions include sleep disturbances, temporary loss of appetite, anxiety, and fears about the health and safety of friends and family.”
The district offered resources and advice for parents navigating these difficult conversations with their children.
