Uncooperative Man Dead, Two Deputies Shot in Intense Gunfight

Heroic Deputies Shot
Sheriff Grady Judd hailed the deputies’ heroism, revealing that they were trying to pull an uncooperative man from his car after he refused to comply with commands to exit. The deputies spotted the vehicle in a county park after hours, responding to reports of a series of car thefts in the area.
Gunfight Erupts
According to the sheriff, preliminary findings indicate that the slain man fired first. “He asked for a gunfight, we gave him a gunfight,” Judd stated resolutely. “And he’ll never be in another gunfight again, because he’s dead.”
Deputies’ Condition
Lt. Chad Anderson is in critical but stable condition, while Deputy Craig Smith is in stable condition after being shot multiple times. Judd expressed his gratitude for the skilled medical team attending to the deputies.
