The bustling intersection of Sherman Way and Etiwanda Avenue in Reseda became a scene of tragedy on Sunday night when a man tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident.

As the sun cast its final rays, around 9 p.m., a man in his 60s attempted to cross Etiwanda Avenue in the designated crosswalk. Fate, unfortunately, had a cruel twist in store for him as he stumbled and fell hard on the unforgiving pavement.

Unable to gather the strength to rise, he lay helpless on the road. Seconds turned into an eternity as he frantically tried to summon the will to stand.

Then, tragedy struck. A dark-colored sedan, its headlights piercing the night, approached the crosswalk. Eyewitnesses watched in horror as the vehicle continued its path, relentlessly crashing into the helpless man.

The impact was devastating. The victim, whose identity the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has not yet released out of respect for his family’s privacy, was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, his injuries proved insurmountable, and he succumbed to his wounds.
