Elliot Tramel Nowden, 45, was arrested for the murder.

Nowden had a previous conviction for assault with a deadly weapon in 2019 and was sentenced to four years in prison. Despite his release, he continued to frequent Metro stations.

The LA Metro has seen a rise in violent incidents recently, raising concerns about the safety of passengers.

Prosecutorial Recommendations

The prosecution recommended that Nowden be held without bail at his arraignment on Wednesday. If convicted as charged, he could face life in prison without parole.

Special Circumstances and Enhanced Penalties

The heinous nature of the crime has warranted special circumstances, including the accusation that it was a robbery-murder and that the victim was targeted for being vulnerable.

LA District Attorney George GascĂłn condemned the senseless act, stating, “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones. These acts of violence have no place in our society, and we will continue to ensure that justice is served.”
