Los Angeles News Center – Drivers navigating the busy 101 Freeway were met with significant delays and a somber scene on Monday morning following a deadly crash.

Fatal Collision Shuts Down Northbound Lanes

Preliminary reports indicate that the crash occurred around 5:20 a.m. on the northbound side of the 101 at Lankershim Boulevard in Studio City. Sky5 aerial footage captured the aftermath, showing multiple damaged vehicles scattered around a truck hauling portable toilets.

First responders swiftly secured the crash site, blocking all but one lane for the investigation, while issuing a SigAlert. The impacted stretch of the freeway is expected to remain closed until approximately 7:30 a.m., causing major traffic congestion.

One Fatality and Multiple Injuries

Tragically, one individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene. According to KTLA 5 traffic reporter Ginger Chan, several others were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of their wounds.
