Heartbreaking Incident

A deadly hit-and-run crash on Thursday evening in South Los Angeles has left one person dead and two more injured, one of them a young boy.

Scene Investigation

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. near the 5200 block of South Figueroa Street in the Vermont Square neighborhood. LA Fire Department (LAFD) crews found three individuals with injuries upon arrival at the scene.

One victim, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 20s was critically injured, while a 5-year-old boy sustained moderate injuries.

Potential Hit-and-Run

Police believe the crash may have been a hit-and-run, with witnesses reporting someone fleeing the area on foot.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate at least two victims from one of the vehicles.

“Crews used hydraulic rescue tools to roll back the wreckage and access the patients,” LAFD stated.
