Courageous Bus Driver Thwarts Attack, ‘Get Off Me!’

South Los Angeles, California – In a harrowing incident captured on video, a heroic Los Angeles bus driver fought back against a woman who launched an unprovoked attack on Sunday.

At around 1 PM, near the intersection of South Central Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard, the suspect boarded a DASH bus. She offered a dollar to the driver, who declined to accept it, as DASH buses provide free service. Angered by the refusal, the woman unleashed a vicious assault on the unsuspecting driver.

Video footage reveals the suspect prying open the safety door that separates drivers from passengers. She then proceeds to grab and strike the driver repeatedly. The driver, a woman herself, fiercely resists, kicking and fighting back with all her might. “Get off me!” she can be heard shouting in the video.

Miraculously, the courageous driver pries the assailant off and manages to board the bus, slamming the door shut. The suspect is subsequently arrested by police, while the heroic driver is reported to have sustained no serious injuries.

Suspect Reportedly Homeless

According to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), the suspect is believed to be homeless. LADOT is currently exploring ways to reinforce safety barriers between bus drivers and passengers to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
