**LA News Center Uncovers Staggering Costs of Campus unrest: “Millions” Expected for Repairs**

With tensions escalating on the California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt campus, the university has issued a stern statement denouncing the unlawful occupation of two academic buildings by anti-Israel agitators.

Expressing deep concern, the statement condemned the “lawless behavior” that has severely disrupted the university’s mission and caused significant damage. The statement acknowledged that the unlawful occupation had gravely impacted the education of students and the reputation of the institution.

Counting the Cost

The university estimates the cost of repairing the damaged facilities and addressing the financial losses to be “in the millions.” This staggering expense includes the cost of repairing physical damages such as vandalism, theft, and graffiti, as well as the loss of revenue from disrupted operations. However, the university emphasized that the true cost extended beyond financial losses to include the irreparable educational harm inflicted upon its students.

“That includes damage done by theft, vandalism and graffiti, and the supplies and personnel needed to repair that, in addition to the loss of revenue from disruption to university operations,” the university said. “But the true cost has been the disruption of the education of our students who came here to learn and get a college degree.”

Outlawed Behavior

The university clarified that it fully supports the right to protest and engage in free speech, but this should be done within legal boundaries and with respect for the rights of others.

However, the anti-Israel protestors have engaged in unlawful activities, including the ongoing occupation of university buildings and the intimidation of university employees. The university stated that it would enforce the law and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

Closing the Campus

After weeks of unrelenting protests, the university announced that it would close down indefinitely as of Monday. The campus will be inaccessible to anyone without explicit permission. Students residing on campus in halls of residences are permitted to stay within their designated areas and dining facilities until further notice.

Urging Cooperation

The university appeals to those unlawfully occupying the buildings and participating in illegal camping to vacate the campus peacefully and avoid further escalation. Voluntary withdrawal will be considered as a mitigating factor in determining any disciplinary actions or criminal charges, but it does not absolve individuals from responsibility for their conduct.

The LA News Center will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
