“I watched those people that night, singing their hearts out,” Church said. “Two days later, it was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. Fans who had stayed over for my shows were among the victims. It broke something in me.”
Soon after, Church’s younger brother, Brandon, passed away due to seizure complications. These personal losses sent him into a period of darkness and mourning.
Music as Therapy and Redemption
In the aftermath of these devastating experiences, Church found refuge in his music. He poured his emotions into songs that he had never intended to release, songs too raw and personal for public consumption.
“The residency at Chief’s is a way for me to showcase those songs,” Church said. “The songs that nobody’s heard, the ones I’ve never put on a record because they were too close. I’m going to play them and say, ‘This is what got me through.'”

“I started here as an outsider, but they can’t kick me out now,” Church declared.
