Unfazed by Theft, Rep. Schiff Shows Style at Campaign Dinner

Adam Schiff, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, faced an unexpected welcome to San Francisco on Thursday. Just hours before a swanky campaign dinner, thieves broke into his car and made off with his bags, leaving him without formal attire.

Unperturbed, Schiff rolled up to the at Ristorante Rocca in Burlingame in shirt sleeves and a hiking vest, a sight that stood out amidst the suits and gowns.

Undeterred by the Setback

During his speech, Schiff made light of the incident, saying, “Yes, they took my bags, but I’m here to thank Joe,” referring to Joe Cotchett, who had shown support for Schiff’s campaign.

Cotchett heaped praise on Schiff’s resilience, saying, “Adam really showed himself tonight. He’ll be a great senator—he’s going to change the Senate tremendously.”

A Troubling Trend

Schiff’s experience is not an isolated incident. Just days earlier, the security guard of San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan was assaulted in a downtown San Jose incident captured on video.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed is working to address the city’s persistent problems with crime, homelessness, and public drug use in the Tenderloin district.

As Schiff’s campaign continues, the theft will likely be a small blip on the radar. The candidate’s steady and unyielding demeanor has highlighted his determination to serve the people of California in the U.S. Senate.
