US Must ‘Bless’ Israel, Support Ukraine: Biblical Duty

In a rousing speech on Monday night, Speaker Mike Johnson declared that it was America’s “moral imperative” to champion and support our ally Israel in these trying times. Addressing an emergency meeting of Christians United For Israel, Johnson emphasized the critical need for unwavering strength and solidarity with Israel.

“A Biblical Admonition”

Invoking religious beliefs, Johnson asserted that it was more than just foreign policy; it was a biblical admonition for the US to bless Israel. “We understand that that’s our role,” he stated. “It’s also our biblical admonition. This is something that’s an article of faith for us.” Johnson believes that supporting Israel holds divine favor for the US.

Taking on Critics

Johnson directed sharp criticism towards President Biden and other Democrats who have voiced concerns about Israel’s response to the recent Hamas attack. Singling out Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Johnson expressed outrage at his call for new elections in Israel.

“They’re trying to dictate strategy,” Johnson said. “It’s breathtaking… While Israel is in a battle for its very existence, they’re trying to demand a change of leadership.” Johnson questioned their motives, suggesting they were attempting to undermine Israel’s stability.

Criticizing Biden’s Foreign Policy

The speaker also criticized Biden’s foreign policy regarding Iran, particularly the extension of sanctions waivers that would inject cash into Iran’s struggling economy. Johnson called it “unconscionable” and stated, “I do not understand the policy. You can’t make sense of it.”

Johnson revealed that he had confronted Schumer directly about these matters, questioning why they were interfering in Israel’s internal affairs when the US would fiercely resist such intervention in Ukraine.

Plan for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan

Johnson’s speech came on the heels of a new funding plan he unveiled to support Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan. Under his proposal, the House would conduct separate votes on each funding priority by the end of the week, likely on Friday.

In a closed-door meeting with the House GOP conference, Johnson presented his plan, which seeks to strengthen these nations and demonstrate the US’s commitment to their sovereignty and well-being.

Johnson’s speech underscores the strong support within the House GOP for Israel and other US allies facing geopolitical challenges. His emphasis on religious principles and his willingness to confront critics highlight the depth of commitment that many in the party feel towards these nations and their struggles.
