Bodies Found in Texas County, Oklahoma

The bodies recovered in Texas County, Oklahoma, have been confirmed to be those of Jillian Kelley, 39, and Veronica Butler, 27, the two Kansas mothers who vanished without a trace. The Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OSBI) made the identification on Tuesday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones, along with everyone throughout their community,” the OSBI said in a statement.

Last Seen Picking Up Children

Butler and Kelley were last seen on March 30 driving to pick up children. Their car was later found abandoned near the Oklahoma-Kansas border, leading police to suspect foul play.

Suspects Charged with Murder

On April 13, authorities apprehended four individuals in connection with the women’s deaths:

  • Tad Bert Cullum, 43
  • Tifany Machel Adams, 54
  • Cole Earl Twombly, 50
  • Cora Twombly, 44

All suspects were charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Custody Dispute as Motive

According to court records, Adams was involved in a custody dispute with Butler’s children. The children’s father is undergoing rehabilitation.

The documents indicate that the custody battle began in February 2019 and intensified in the weeks before Butler’s death, with Adams filing motions for extended visitation.

Supervised Visits

Court records also reveal that Butler was only allowed supervised visits with her children. Kelley was the court-appointed supervisor who accompanied Butler on March 30, the day of their disappearance.

No Hope of Survival

Oklahoma investigators have stated that there is “no chance” the missing women are alive. The manner of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

Alleged Anti-Government Affiliation

An affidavit associated with the case claims that the suspects are members of the “Gods Misfits,” an anti-government group. The extent of their involvement and its connection to the crime is still under investigation.
