Brittney Griner, the renowned WNBA star, has shattered her silence, revealing the depths of her despair during her harrowing 10-month detention in a Russian prison. In an exclusive interview with LA News Center, Griner shared her harrowing ordeal that pushed her to consider taking her own life.

Dark Days in a Foreign Land

Upon arriving at a Moscow airport in 2022, Griner’s life took a drastic turn. Authorities discovered vape cartridges with cannabis oil in her luggage, leading to her arrest. Stuck behind prison walls in a foreign land, alone and overwhelmed, Griner’s mental health deteriorated rapidly.

“In the first few weeks, I wanted to end it all more than once,” Griner confessed to interviewer Robin Roberts. “The thought of leaving this place consumed me.”
