Republicans Eager for Biden-Trump Face-Off in 2024

A recent survey by LA News Center reveals a growing enthusiasm among Republicans for a rematch between President Biden and former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Republican Enthusiasm Soars

Sixty-three percent of Republicans surveyed expressed significant enthusiasm for a second clash between the Democratic incumbent and his GOP predecessor. This enthusiasm is a stark contrast to the lower levels reported among Democrats (36%) and independents (27%).

A Narrow Contest

The poll also indicates a close race between Biden and Trump. Forty-four percent of respondents said they would support Trump, while 43% expressed support for Biden. Forty-nine percent of participants stated they would not vote for Biden, and 48% said the same about Trump.

Third-Party Candidates

Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is running as an independent, received 18% support in the poll. However, experts suggest that Kennedy’s impact on the election may be minimal unless he can win a significant number of votes from those who dislike both Biden and Trump.

Top Issues

According to the survey, inflation (38%) and economic growth (37%) are the most important issues for voters in the presidential election. Other concerns include immigration (33%) and abortion (33%).

Partisan Divide

The poll highlights a significant partisan divide in voter priorities. Republicans prioritize immigration (56%) and inflation (53%), while Democrats focus more on abortion (44%).

Methodology

The LA News Center poll was conducted from April 18 to 22, with 808 adults nationwide interviewed over the phone. The survey has an overall sampling error of plus or minus 4.3 percentage points.

What it all Means

The poll suggests that Republicans are highly motivated for a rematch between Biden and Trump. While the race remains close, inflation is likely to be a key issue influencing voter behavior in the upcoming election.
