Victims Seek Million in Damages

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice and SMU cornerback Teddy Knox are facing a lawsuit filed by two victims involved in a high-speed car crash earlier this month. The victims, Edvard Petrovskiy and Irina Gromova, allege they suffered severe injuries due to the defendants’ reckless actions.

Reckless Driving and Aftermath

According to an affidavit cited in the lawsuit, Rice, allegedly driving a Lamborghini Urus, was traveling at a staggering 119 mph just seconds before the crash on March 30. Knox, who was in a Chevrolet Corvette, was traveling at 116 mph before slowing down to 91 mph.

The victims claim that the impact of the collision caused significant injuries, including brain trauma, lacerations to the face requiring stitches, bruises, and internal bleeding. They also allege that Rice and Knox left the scene without providing any assistance to the injured parties.

Legal Charges and Lawsuit

Rice has since turned himself in and is facing charges of aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury. Knox is facing the same charges and has been suspended from the SMU football program.

Apology Amid Legal Fallout

Rice has publicly apologized for his involvement in the incident, taking full responsibility for his actions. “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities,” Rice stated. “I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident.”

Damage Claims

Petrovskiy and Gromova are seeking million in damages for medical expenses, physical and emotional suffering, and property damage. The lawsuit alleges that Rice and Knox acted negligently and with willful disregard for the safety of others.
